The gross appearance of this undescended left testicle is 7 X 6.5 X 4 cm and 85 gm with a smooth albugineal surface with some flattened nodules and focal areas of discoloration underneath the albuginea. The photo shows the outer surface (above) and cut surface of the testicle after sectioning longitudinally (below). Cut sections reveal a yellowish-tan, multinodular tumor with no areas of hemorrhage. This tumor is practically replacing all the testicular parenchyma with no gross evidence of normal testicular tissue. This testicle was undetected in the abdominal cavity for more than 30 years in a mentally retarded patient.
